FAQs
Questions hospitals ask us.
Plain answers about working offline, your data, claims, devices, pricing, support and security. If your question is not here, write to us.
Does Fikacare work without the internet?
Yes. Working offline is the normal case, not a fallback. Every station keeps an encrypted copy of the records it needs and syncs with the hospital's hub over the local network. When the internet returns, the hub catches the cloud up. No screen waits on the network.
What happens when the power goes off or the hub machine fails?
Each station keeps working on its own copy and syncs with its peers. A standby machine takes over the hub's role if the hub fails, and everything reconciles once the hub is back, with no duplicates and no gaps. We recommend the hub sits on a small UPS.
Who owns the hospital's data?
The hospital does. Records are encrypted on every machine and backed up to the cloud, and the hospital can export everything at any time in open formats. If a subscription ends, exports stay available for 90 days after termination, after which data is deleted under the data processing agreement with a signed deletion certificate.
Does it handle NHIA and HMO patients?
Yes. HMO schemes and tariffs are set up centrally, a patient's scheme is recorded at registration, and claims are prepared from the visit's charges, tracked through submission, ageing and settlement, and reconciled against payments received. Capitation is supported.
What computers do we need?
Ordinary Windows machines. One acts as the hub (we recommend a small fanless PC with 16 GB of memory and an SSD on a UPS), a second machine of any specification stands by, and every other station runs the same application. Receipt, label and A4 printers connect in the usual way.
How are devices kept secure?
Every device is enrolled and approved before it can hold hospital data, holds a lease that must be renewed, and is locked when its lease is refused. Data on disk is encrypted, machines authenticate each other with certificates, and a lost or stolen machine can be retired from the portal so it can no longer decrypt anything.
Can the record be edited after the fact?
No. Clinical records are append-only. A correction is a new entry that references the original, and both stay visible with author and time. This applies to everyone, including the administrator and Fikacare's own support staff.
How do receipts and cash work?
Receipt numbers come from blocks reserved on each device, so a cashier can receipt during an outage and the numbers never clash or repeat. Money is a ledger: balances are always the sum of the transactions, and the receipt continuity report shows every gap.
How much does it cost?
Plans are priced per month or per year and are listed on the pricing page. Data is never gated by plan: a change of plan hides modules, it never hides or deletes records. Larger hospitals, groups, government and mission hospitals can ask for a customised plan.
What happens if we stop paying?
After the grace period the cloud services pause: the portal shows only billing and data export, and cloud sync and new device approvals stop. The devices in the hospital keep working and keep syncing with each other. Nothing commercial ever locks a device or stops care.
How are updates delivered?
Updates are signed and delivered through the hub, which relays them to the stations over the local network, so a hospital with a slow connection downloads each update once. Releases go out in stages, and a hospital is never moved to a version that has not been proved.
What support and training do you provide?
Our team installs the hub and stations, imports the hospital's existing registers, and trains staff on site by role. Support is by email on the Starter plan, priority on Standard, and phone, email and remote sessions with a dedicated account manager on Enterprise. A remote support session only happens with the hospital's consent.
Can a hospital group see all its branches?
Yes. Each branch has its own hub and devices, the group's staff, tariffs and catalogues are managed centrally, and the owner compares branches in the portal with every figure drilling down to the records behind it.
Can we try it before we commit?
Request a demo and we will show the system running the way your hospital works. A demo can be converted into a trial so your staff use the real product before you decide.
